Maggie was born in 1922.  Maggie's father was Keng Tye Chia and her mother was Tuan Neo Lim.  Her paternal grandparents were Chia Hood Theam and Lan Neo Yeo. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Chin Tiong, Bok, Amy, Grace, Elsie and Daisy. She had a half-sister named Lyna.  She died at the age of 70 in 1992.

‌Maggie and Boon Kim were married.  They had a son named Douglas.
