Kenneth was born in 1958.  Kenneth's father is Teddy Cheng Yeok Ong and his mother is Daisy Chiew Neo Chia.  His maternal grandparents were Keng Tye Chia and Tuan Neo Lim. He had four sisters named Violet, Rosalind, Flora (Dr) and Dr Heather.  He is the second youngest of the five children.
