Gay Neo's father was Keng Chin Chia and her mother is Kim Neo Lim. Her paternal grandparents were Chia Hood Theam and Lan Neo Yeo. Hood Cheng Chia and Chia Hood Cheng Wife - were her grandparents through her father's adoption. She has two brothers and six sisters, named Harry, George, Nancy, Lucy, Molly, Buay Neo, Swee Neo and Ivy.
