Re: Update on Dad

Dear Joo Beng & Joo Kim
This is cousin Helen from KL.
Thanks for your daily update on U. Ghee--he has been kept in our daily prayer, & I read with hope that day by day he will improve. News of his condition has also reached our cousin Joan in England .
We may not have met for many years but got updated through your parents when we last visited them in 1997. We do not go to singapore often as we spend our time between KL/Perth, Australia.
Both of you are coping commendably well with your parents.
I pray the Lord will continue to guide & bless you all through this difficult period.
Do take good care of yourselves
Love---Helen

Dearest Beng:

Painful as it is, you’re ever so diligent in updating your dad’s condition on the world-wide web. For that, we’re ever so grateful and thankful for you!!! You’re truly wonderful, Beng, and we want you to know that. Praise God for you. Praise God for your dad. Praise God for your whole family. We want to remind you that not a day passes without our prayer request for your dad’s well-being, yours, and your family, too. We’re not only praying for you but praying with you. May the good Lord continue to uphold you and yours with renewed strength, courage, faith, hope, and love each passing day. May He bring about full recovery for both your dads according to His Will and maintain your mom and all of you with good health as well.

We love you all and once again, appreciate all that you are and do!

Dear Joo Ann, Beng and Kim

Thank you for giving us the update of your dad’s condition.  Can understand your concern and sadness for your dad after my mum suffered her stroke in the year 2000 and then gone to be with her Lord Jesus after 3 years of living with the aftermath of a stroke.  It is particularly hard when the person has been such a capable person as in the case of my mum and your dad to see them so helpless in hospital.  Don’t however be discouraged and know that there is hope because there is hope in Jesus.  I am sorry that your dad shed a few tears after seeing the old photos, not surprising but actually the photos are really for you guys, to more or less cheer you up a bit and to take your mind off the situation for a while at least.  I am also praying for Janet’s dad that God will be merciful to him and to heal him according to His Will.  Do continue to have faith in our Lord and trust Him everyday.  It is never easy to deal with stroke patients especially the aftercare but your dad has so many relatives who love and will pray for him.  I will also remember your mum in my prayers not forgetting all of you.  May God continue to bless you all as you struggle with the most difficult times of your lives.

Love Virginia.

Dear Joo Beng,Joo Kim and Joo Ann,

I have been following your dad's condition and it is very good to know that there are so many people praying for him..  Take one day at a time and continue to keep the faith and trust in the Lord.

Here are a couple of old photos that you might like to keep.  Do you know who the big guy in the centre is?  Somehow I don't think he is one of the brothers but maybe he is. <Photo 1 : Extended Koh Family> <Photo 2 : Mum & Dad !>

Hope this find everyone in good health and spirits in spite of everything that is happening.  I will keep praying for your dad and all of you.

Love Virginia.

Importance: High

Dear JB & Family,

I arrived safely to Melbourne this morning, it was a blessing to be able to meet up with you all in Singapore and to be able to pray for your Dad & talk to him. I sincerely believe he heard us and he was communicating with us last Saturday (12/6).

May Psalm 23 be our continual prayer - we shall not fear for Thou art with us (always). We will continue to hope, pray and intercede for your dad.

Take care and may you find all your need in Him.

P/S: Hope you have finished hemming your mum's pants!

Hi Joo Beng

I had a look at the website and I thought the page to update everyone on your dad's condition is a great idea!

Sam and I went to see him yesterday at about 4pm. He was very responsive -- Praise the Lord! He opened his eyes every time we called his name to speak to him. Each time he looked at us and held our gaze. He definitely sees and hears us. He even tried to say something but it took too much effort. We took the opportunity to read him some comforting passages from the bible -- I know that he can hear us and that the words will minister to his spirit.
I shared this particular verse with him from Psalm 63:

6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

We are always upholding your dad and your family in our prayers. We know that God heals, and we are believing in Him to restore your dad -- mind, body and spirit.

Hello Joo Beng. You may not recognise me or my name but I am your Aunt Ida's (No. 11- from KL) youngest son - Lincoln Loh. I live in Port Moody (Vancouver- suburb, in British Columbia, Canada). I am very sorry to learn about your dad. It was Ivan who emailed me about this. I will always think of and remember your KIND, EVER-SO-HELPFUL dad. In 1973 (I believe), when I was looking for a job in S'pore, I hastily flew there and it was your dad who picked me up from the airport, stayed in his house and drove me to the interview. I will always remember his kindness. Uncle Ghee is/was pretty "close" to my dad (when he was alive) as I remember they like joking with each other the few times they meet up in KL or S'pore. I will certainly pray for your dad and hope THE LORD WILL guide his path. Please convey my wishes to your mom (my SUP LOOK YEE) and hope she will have the strength during this trying time. Also , to all of you ( my cousins) do take care!!! I will certainly be keeping in touch with your website for the latest. Bye!

Your cousin in Canada,

Lincoln.

Hi Joo Beng,

How are you?

Your father is improving and your mum has got a nice neighbour to take care of her food.  Joo Kim's friend is also there to see to your mum's food and Joo Kim is back staying with your mum.  Your mum is calm and that is good.  Joo Ann is on the way back.

Maybe it is not right that I write so much, but you have always kept me in touch with the Kohs and I very much appreciate it.

Regards

All of us are shocked to learn of the news. We are all praying for him and with you. I realise no words can soothe the shock, but we are supporting all of you in prayers and thoughts. Cassandra is quite distraught too and I too am at a loss for words to explain.

Dear Joo Beng, Joo Kim and all the family, Sorry to hear of your dad’s sudden stroke. In times like this, we turn to our good Lord Jesus for strength, comfort and reassurance of His Promise to us of eternal life. I pray that your dad is not suffering much and that he is in good hands. At this time, I also want to be so grateful for mama koh’s faithfulness to Jesus as I remember her strength in the Lord. Thank God for her bringing the whole family to Christianity. I will continue to pray for your dad and for the whole family coming together giving support to you all in times of need. May God continue to comfort you all at this stressful time. Have faith in Jesus and trust in Him.

Love,
Virginia and family.

Dear Joo Beng,

I just heard about your dad's stroke via Rachel in KL -

how is he now?

And can we visit or do anything to help you or your mom (in terms of food, etc)?

If your dad is in Tan Tock Seng Hosp (I recall your mom was there previously), we are really near by and you and/or your mom could actually come over to our place and use it as a base for bathing, resting etc.

Also, Linda is now nursing there, and can drop in to see him.

Take care, and do keep me informed of his progress, and of anything I can do.

Dear Joo Beng,

We just heard through Poh Seong about your dad's stroke.  We are very sorry and hope it is not serious.  This is a stressful time and God please give you all the strength to weather it.  If there is anything we can do to help, please do not hesitate to let us know.  If and when time and opportunity permit, we would very much appreciate your dropping a line to let us know how Uncle Ghee fares.  Perhaps you will be updating everyone through your website.  I imagine your US holiday is probably put on hold.

Warm regards,
Ivan and Carol

Hi Everyone,

To Joo Beng, Joo Kim and Joo Ann –

Cheng and Lani convey their thoughts and prayers from Africa for Lah Pek.  Cheng and Lani are climbing up Mt. Kilimanjaro today.

Prayers for Cheng and Lani too as they take the 9 day trek up the 5000+ metre mountain.  Prayers also for the 10 others who are climbing with them.

Prayers too for Lah Um as she copes during these uncertain times, and prayers for Joo Ann, Joo Kim, Joo Beng and Janet, Jared, Jordan and Justin.  Prayers for wisdom for the family to make good decisions that will be good for everyone concerned.  May they be well guided by God and surrounded with sound and good advice from friends and family and professionals such as the doctors.

This is truly the fellowship of suffering.  And may the God of Comfort, comfort us well, in order for us to comfort one another well.  This is truly beyond my imagination and understanding.

God keep us all close and protect us all,

Jeannie
